- The F3-Format, F4-Ins/Del, F5-Stretch, F6-Shift, F7-Erase, and F8-Hold
- commands all operate using a highlighted rectangular area of the workspace.
- When using these commands you must highlight an area of the workspace. How
- to do this is discussed on the next page. The highlighted area has one
- corner anchored at the cursor position when you enter the command, so you
- must know the location of your cursor. This will become obvious when you
- use the commands.
-
- The information line, the last line on the screen,

- If you enter one of these commands by mistake,

- │ area either up, down, right, or left.
- │
- │ Only the section of workspace highlighted will be affected.
- │
- │ Stretch moves only the special characters used in EasyChart
- │ figures. Any text is left where it is. Stretch does not
- │ perform its action if it requires that text be overwritten.
- │
- │ Since no special characters are used to create
- │ decision boxes (only the '/' and '\' are used),
- │ they are viewed as text and are not stretched.
- │
- │ The strategy that stretch uses is to move all figure characters within
- │ the highlighted area flush to the forward edge of the highlighted
- │ area, and then extend the figure characters to the rear edge.
